JiWI Solar (JSI), a subsidiary of SolarCity Corp., has signed an agreement to build a 10 MW solar power plant in the San Joaquin Valley, California, north of Los Angeles. Today, the partners announced the completion of the first phase of construction of the project on the site of a former oil and gas refinery in San Jose, California.
The 672 kilowatt campus project consists of a roof made up of 2,688 solar cells mounted on three buildings, with the solar cell located on one of the parking lots. The solar array consisted of 4,422 solar panels spread across seven locations within the school district, including two ground-mounted mounting systems and two rooftop solar panels.
DSH also plans to acquire Cottonwood Solar, LLC, which owns more than 1,000 acres of land in San Bernardino County, California, next to the Corcoran School District. These 1000 hectares will be converted into a photovoltaic plant, which is scheduled to be put into final operation in the fourth quarter of 2016. Con Edison has also acquired a number of jointly operated facilities, including a 1,000-kilowatt solar power plant and a 2,500-megawatt rooftop solar plant. The transaction includes the purchase of a 5.5 hectare solar park and an additional 1.4 million square meter solar plant.
NRG is developing a renewable micro-grid for the entire island that will provide reliable electricity, at least 75 percent of which will be supplied by an integrated series of photovoltaic, wind and solar power plants. Over the next three years, the system will measure and establish a large-scale power storage technology using discarded electric batteries. EPE and JSI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which Epe will acquire a 1.5 million square meter solar power plant and a 2,500 megawatt solar park on the island.
